StarMade Adventures Ep10 - Sacrifice. The Season Finale.

Starmade Adventures, end of Season 1.

With the final Starmade Adventures episode of the season approaching I should say that I will be taking a break between seasons. This is not a holiday and the channel will still have weekly content.

The season break of Starmade adventures is to allow me fully write the overarching plot and do some pre-production. I was unable to do this for the first season as I started on a whim and did not expect it to become (relatively) popular. So since I committed to weekly episodes I have been playing catch up. It does take the full week to film and edit each episode. Especially as the game has very little sound at present and the amount of layering the green screen and transparent window shots require. Not to mention it was around episode 4 before I had really grasped a full plot for the show.

This has also resulted in the pilot episode being in a very different style from the rest of the series (not to mention earlier episodes lacking the same editing polish as later ones). While remaking all the early episodes would be fruitless. I do intend, as a 50 subscriber special, to remake episode 1 as a true and fitting beginning to the saga.

Lastly when season 2 enters production I will be offering opportunities to anyone who would like to have their creations from the game featured in the show. There will also be a call for people who would like to perform voice/acting roles and/or to act as pilots for some episodes to allow me to tell a better story than I can do with the AI and hopefully to have a bit of fun within the community. Anyone who has any interest on being involved with the next season should contact me through my official Facebook.

Episode 10 will be the season finale. There will then be a short break before the start of season 2. This is not a holiday for me (sadly) I just really need prep time to do some some proper pre-production and scheduled filming so that I can involve some other characters.

While there will be this break in seasons there will still be regular weekly videos containing new content, including some game time in the World of Warcraft Legion Beta.

Declining Views..

I am rather worried about my declining view count on YouTube. When I started StarMade Adventures each video seemed to do better than the last and I received a lot of positive feedback. But then it all sudden dropped off. I am really not sure what to do.

Episode 6 launches this evening and come what may I will finish the series. But as to a second season... at the moment I am unsure. I would love to but the time it takes to create each episode means I really have been unable to do much else and for obvious reasons I cannot sustain a weekly show with no income...

Hmm that said perhaps once I secure a normal income from some kind of half decent job (finally) I will be able to sustain some form of the series, but not in a weekly format. I do enjoy creating content and I doubt I will ever stop. I just may have to be more practical about what I make and how often I can make it.

Episode 4...

I am rather confused. For Starmade Adventures the episodes have always topped 100 views within the first 2 days.

There has been a good buzz around the series and a few key people from the community around the game have been very positive with comments and sharing the videos.

Episode 4 has been out for 3 days now and has 30 views and the only comment is from a friend...  I don't know what happened :-(

Something New

So since I got the green screen kit, I thought I would try something new...

24 gaming marathon for charity.

I will post an official announcement soon. But I am hoping to start fundraising for macmillan cancer research by doing a 24 hour gaming marathon and streaming it.

Might be asking some people to take part with me.

New Starmade Video:

I have upgraded my filming hardware so can now produce these videos lag free :D It is a bit complicated however requiring 2 computers and 4 different cables...

I am very pleased with this episode. A lot of work was put into it. The video has green screen elements, the above mentioned filming hardware trick, more dynamic music and ADR done so the voice over was of a better quality.

The future...

I am quickly approaching the end of my university course (for the second time in my life) and I have been diligently searching for jobs, graduate or otherwise. I have to say I am not brimming with confidence. Jobs are just as few and far between as they were when I first gave up hope and went back to study again. I fear I will now be even more over qualified for normal jobs and too old/ under experienced for higher level work.

My under-graduate degree ended up being a noose around my neck. Myself and the vast, vast amount of my peers made zero inroads into our industry and ended up with afore mentioned over qualified/ under experienced issue.

I have a sense of dread that I have simply repeated the same mistake...

On a related note I genuinely love creating videos and updating all of my social media and keeping in touch with you guys and in an ideal world I could put food on my table doing that but in reality very few people manage this.

Don't get me wrong. I don't do this for money. I do it because it's my passion and my hobby and I will continue making content for as long as that remains true. I guess I'm just having panic about 'real jobs' and the future and felt the need to vent about it...

Starmade Season 2

I am going to film my last ship (The Landa) for season 1 of my Starmade ships after class today. To round it out I will film a small promo for season 2 where I will be showcasing the ships that I have built on the multiplayer server (systemhack uk). Rather than just showing off the ships I will actually using them. I will be featuring mining missions and combating pirates/other players etc. So I am hoping this will be more fun than just straight reviews.

My Minecraft video did not do very well. I may still try an ep2 but keep it shorter and gauge the reaction after that.

The trainee fights..

I spent the whole day between editing, rendering and uploading but in the end the fights themselves were not up to scratch so the boss man had me pull them...

Pretty deflated but I do see his point.

Leg day....

I finally snapped after hitting a wall while gaining size in gym. I knew I should be hitting legs but I had been avoiding it. But after two weeks of going heavy on the bench I had actually lost a few pounds... So I decided to sack up and take the gym more seriously. I headed down to Bannatynes and set up shop in the squat rack...

Could not walk properly for two days... Gotta do it all over again...

Mini Wrestlemania review

Okay, I am not going to a full ‪#‎Wrestlemania‬ review. Plenty of people out there who will likely do that. Just a few points I want to make:

1. The show was very front loaded for me. Started great and continued great, loads of 'surprises' and all that jazz. However the show really lost its shine the closer to the 'main event' it got.

2. The WOMEN'S (Burn in hell diva's title...) championship match was great. I saw one tiny botch when Sasha went for the sunset flip out of the corner but all three women recovered quickly and it really didn't take anything away from the match. Great psychology, good story telling and sensible well timed high spots.

3. AJ Styles versus Chris Jericho. Overall it was a good match but some parts seemed clustered to me. Don't understand why Jericho went over at the moment but perhaps the story is not over yet.

4. Zack Ryder winning the IC title in a (excuse my Scottish) "belter" of a ladder match is my moment of the night and honestly the reason I ended up staying awake to watch the whole show. I had originally planed to give up a few matches in and catch the rest in the morning. Woo Woo Woo. You know it.

5. Stone Cold! Stone Cold! Stone Cold! enough said. Oh! Apart from the New day's entrance..... yes.

6. Shane 'O' Mac versus Undertaker was as weird as I feared. Taker was over selling fairly weak offence that almost feels disrespectful to the efforts of past Wrestlemania opponents.By the same token Shane undersold too many 'big' moves.

That said Shane hit all the dangerous bumps we expected and it was a great effort from both men.They told a good story within the match and Taker showing Shane respect for not giving up at the end was a nice touch.

However the result of match better not be the end of this story. I doubt many people would appreciate this build up and hope of changing the monotony of Raw was simply exploited for a one time Mania selling headline...

7. I fell asleep during the main event. I was awoken by the sound of booing after the finish....

Wrestlemania

I have been watching the wrestlemania pre show. I am annoyed that the had the US title on the pre show then wonder why we feel that the title is undervalued. On the up shot I was very impressed with the new WOMENS World Title.

New Starmade Video

My new Starmade video is currently rendering and will be online this evening. I went a little different with today's video and went and fought some pirates rather than just the targets. Once that is up I will film the first episode of Gary plays Minecraft: Survival. Not sure when I will get it edited and uploaded yet. Tomorrow is booked up with classes and Gym and the weekend/early week is taken up with training for upcoming film work.

I also need to get the student fights from the Storm Fight Team edited and uploaded.

#Busy

New work and new projects.

I have landed one perhaps two new film roles today. Obviously I cannot go into any detail but I will need to practice my sword skills. In addition I will be filming a Minecraft let's play tomorrow as part of a new project alongside my standard Starmade ship review.

D&D

I went to a comic book store yesterday evening and played some D&D 5e. Met a lot of nice people and had fun. I think I will keep going. I wonder if people would like to watch me play some D&D on my channel?

Touchdown Productions Scotland Photo shoot

The medieval costume photos from the shoot turned out quite well. The ones in my old wrestling gear don't have as complimentary lighting as my gym so I don't feel I look great in them. But it was funny to wear the old lycra again. A few pictures from the shoot are up on my Instagram

Just got back from the photo shoot. Hope I don't look like a twat in all the pictures.

The shoot was for a UWS student who is doing a display on unusual hobbies. So naturally I ended down there with swords armour and wrestling gear. I would have brought much more than I did but was really all I could carry. I will have the photos up on Instagram when I get them, provided I don't look too bad...

I will also post a link to her project for anyone who is interested when I get it.

I am still not sure about the risks of publicly discussing politics. I doubt people would see me as any kind of credible source considering my normal content. I may start a separate blog about it though. Anyway I have a half day today so there will be weights. I will also film my next ship for another Starmade video. I will try and get it edited and up for Friday rather than Saturday.

Politics

I am toying with idea of discussing world and domestic politics on the blog or even as video content. But I am unsure if this would be wise or relevant.

So far my new video only has 44 views. They are good views people seem to watch most of it. But I was hoping for more. Still it a good start and I can only hope if I keep producing content then it will eventually start rolling.

The 06/03/16 Storm Fight Team Seminar

The Seminar had 5 attendees which was low numbers but enough to train. We covered basic rolls and bumping for the new members and choreographed some basic fight scenes for the veterans.

We filmed a few bits and pieces that I hope to use to create a video trailer for the team. 

Didn’t get to do any weapon training which was sad. I brought my best swords as well…
